PATHOLOGY - VULNERABILITY - STRUCTURAL REINFORCEMENT STUDY
San Juan is built as an architectural complex based on the idea of a unitary concept where the different areas of medicine are structured and coexist on a campus.
STUDY OBJECTIVES
The San Juan de Dios Hospital, declared a National Asset of Cultural Interest and a National Monument, is an architectural establishment of the highest relevance in the current panorama of heritage conservation in Colombia.
The project is part of the Special Management and Protection Plan for the San Juan de Dios Hospital, which seeks to recover and conserve the Hospital as a whole, paying special attention to preservation.
Structural survey, identification of lesions, characterization of structural materials, non-destructive testing, diagnosis of each building.

Within the seismic classification, the buildings are located in a piedmont zone.
It is located within the consolidated urban case of the center, conformed by main roads such as Av. Hortúa, Carrera 7ma and Caracas.

SURVEY AND IDENTIFICATION OF INJURIES
It is essential to start the process with the realization of an exhaustive description of the deterioration patterns observed in the building.
It is necessary to take into account two orders of affectations to the edification, on architectural elements and on structural elements.
According to their category, the deterioration patterns are described as follows:
Physical causes: moisture, physical erosion or dirt.
Mechanical causes: deformations, cracking, fiissures, detachments or mechanical erosion.
Chemical causes: disintegration or dissolution, oxidation, eflorescence, explosion or combustion, and weathering.
Electrochemical causes: corrosion.
Biological causes: brown rot, white rot and disintegration.
